Bahiyyih Khanum, the Greatest Holy Leaf, the eldest daughter of Bahá’u’lláh, has the highest rank of any woman in the Bahá’í dispensation. Her long years of selfless, dedicated service to Bahá’u’lláh Himself, to ‘Abdu’l-Baha and the Guardian are referred to by Amatu’l-Bahá Ruhiyyih Khanum in her introduction to this volume. Many references to her are found in Bahá’í literature and at least one book of memoirs about her has been published, although the full biography has yet to be written.
This book presents a compilation of letters to her and of statements about her by Bahá’u’lláh, ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, and Shoghi Effendi and of nearly a hundred of her own letters. They reveal the vital contribution she made to the protection of the Faith at the time of the ascension of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá and many facets of her saintly life.
