A Short Reader in Judaism draws together in a single volume a comprehensive collection of original source material translated into English, much of it previously inaccessible to the non-specialist. These lively and informative texts provide a wide-ranging introduction to both the literary history and the development of the Jewish faith, charting the main events, movement and currents of thought from the time of Abraham and the ancient Middle East to the present day.

Designed as a companion volume to A Short History of Judaism, this compendium provides an invaluable aid to the study of the Jewish tradition for student and general reader alike.
