Ruhi Book 09: Gaining an Historical Perspective

Ruhi Book 09: Gaining an Historical Perspective

Unit 1: The Eternal Covenant
The Eternal Covenant is the major theme explored in Unit 1 of Gaining an Historical Perspective, which is still under development by the Ruhi Institute.

In the context of this theme, participants explore such concepts as God as unknowable essence; developing the attributes of God and spiritual powers; spiritual faculties; the love of God as the source of all creation; the infinitude of God's grace; the need for spiritual thirst; the all-pervasive knowledge of God; the powerlessness of human beings relative to God; the Greatest Name of God; and progressive revelation as explained in the Kitáb-i-Iqán.

Unit 2: Passage to Maturity
The impact of Bahá’u’lláh’s Revelation on the collective life of humanity is the major theme explored in unit 2. In exploring this theme, participants reflect on the
role our community has to play in advancing the stupendous civilization He has envisaged.

Service Outcomes
The capacities built include the ability to understand the eternal relationships between the realm of God, the realm of the Manifestations of God, and the realm of creation.

What is the Ruhi Institute sequence of courses?

Bahá'ís and likeminded friends are engaged in a global process of learning, to build their capacity to apply the teachings of Bahá'u'lláh to the transformation of society. As a contribution to this learning process, the Ruhi Institute has developed programs and materials that enhance the capacity of individuals and communities to serve humanity. Enhancing such capacity in the individual can be likened to walking a path of service.

What is a Study Circle?

A study circle begins whenever two or more individuals are ready to engage in the study of one of the courses of the Ruhi Institute. Participants in the study circle are led by a tutor whose role is not to act as an expert but as a facilitator. Participants in study circles are active participants in their own learning process.
