Reflection on human success, prosperity, and happiness
People, in general, consider human beings as clever animals. Therefore, many believe that they would achieve success, prosperity and happiness in life, if they attain the material goals through the application of the law of struggle for existence, typical of nature. However, human beings are endowed with material, intellectual, as well as spiritual potentialities. Being successful therefore, Julio Savi maintains, does not mean only gaining money and position but also achieving freedom from the yoke of one's passions.
Even social prosperity does not only imply material well-being and the standard of life but also implies the capacity of promoting the development of the material, intellectual and spiritual potentialities of each individual. And finally human happiness is not solely the enjoyment of physical and intellectual experiences, rather it is more fully realised in the inner serenity achieved through self-mastery.
As human beings struggle together towards these high goals, striving for a nest on the highest branch, the author believes, they would be able to reduce the conflicts inherent in the prevailing materialistic conception of the nature of reality and to begin to build a future of justice and peace in the world.
