eBook Fair Use Policy

When you buy an eBook from us, you are buying a personal licence to read it — not the copyright in the book itself. This page explains, in plain terms, what you can and can't do with it.

What you can do

• Read it on your own devices. Download and keep your eBook on any devices you personally own or use — phone, tablet, computer, e-reader.
• Share it within your own household. Your licence covers you and the people you live with, on the devices you use at home. One copy is enough for a family under one roof.
• Keep backup copies for your own use, so you don't lose the book if a device fails.
• Print a copy for yourself. You may print the whole book, or part of it, for your own personal reading and study.
• Quote short passages in your own work — an essay, a talk, a review, a study paper — as long as you credit the author and title. This is what Australian copyright law calls fair dealing.
• Make an accessible version for yourself if you need one — for example, converting the file so it works with a screen reader.

What you can't do

• Share the file beyond your household. Please don't email, message, upload, post, or otherwise pass the eBook file to anyone outside your home — including extended family, friends, and private groups.
• Put it online. Don't upload it to a website, cloud folder, shared drive, social media platform, messaging group, or file-sharing service where others can download it.
• Sell, lend, gift or transfer it. Your licence is personal to you and can't be passed on or resold.
• Print copies for other people, or hand out printed copies or extracts.
• Reproduce large portions. Copying whole chapters or substantial parts into another document, publication, website or presentation goes beyond fair dealing.
• Use it commercially, or make any product, publication or service from it, without written permission.
• Remove or bypass copy protection, or strip out author, publisher or copyright information.

Why this matters

Every purchase supports the authors, translators, editors and publishers whose work makes these books possible, and helps keep them available and affordable. Sharing a file feels small, but it's the main reason titles like these go out of print.

Problems with your eBook

If your file won't open, downloads are exhausted, or you've lost access after changing devices, contact us at BDS@bahai.org.au and we'll sort it out. You don't need to buy the book again.

About this policy

This policy sits alongside our Terms of Service and any licence terms supplied by the book's publisher. Where a publisher's terms are stricter, those terms apply. Nothing here takes away rights you have under the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth).
