Mashriqu’l-Adhkár, the “Dawning-place of the praise of God”, an institution ordained by Bahá’u’lláh, Founder of the Bahá’i Faith, functions as a community centre for worship, welcomes to its portals people of all Faiths on equal terms, underscores the unity of mankind and all God’s Manifestations. Within the hallowed precincts of the Mashriqu’l-Adhkár are no idols or photographs, no clergy to give sermons, nor are any rituals performed. Only sacred verses from all scriptures are recited with reverence.

When completed in stages, as circumstances permit, the Mashriqu’l-Adhkár will comprise a central Temple of worship and ancillary buildings devoted to social service, such as schools to provide holistic education for children, hospitals for medical attention to the needy, homes for orphans and old people, etc. The provision of such charitable facilities will fulfill the injunction of Bahá’u’lláh that worship in words be accompanied by deeds of service. The Mashriqu’l-Adhkár thus presents the world with a potent agency for applying religious aspirations to the service of humanity, and lays the foundation of the union of mankind in one universal family.
