Turning Point for all Nations

Turning Point for All Nations is a statement written by the Bahá'í International Community on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations. It calls for a restructure of the institutions of the United Nations to respond to increasing the interdependence of all countries of the world, and the subsequent requirement of a system of global governance. It calls for an evolutionary view of the development of the United Nations, with a recognition of past failures, current challenges and future possibilities. It proposes approaches to be taken with regard to the development of an international executive; a world court; global economic development; and the promotion of human rights. It argues that key to progress will be the inclusion of women in all structures and processes. It acknowledges that the most powerful agent of human attitude and behaviour change is religion free from dogma and imitation.

About Bahá'í International Community

The Bahá’í International Community represents the worldwide Bahá’í community in various global fora. It has offices in New York, Geneva, Addis Ababa, Brussels, and Jakarta. It registered with the United Nations as a Non-Governmental Organisation in 1948 and currently has consultative status with many key agencies of the United Nations. It contributes to discourses at the international level advancing understanding about how every person, community, and nation can play its part in building a peaceful and prosperous global society. One part of its contribution over the past 70 years has been the publication of thousands of statements shedding light on and inviting deeper exploration of a range of issues and principles underpinning such a society.
