Conscious Courtship

Finding Someone to Love for the Rest of Your Life

A down-to-earth yet spiritually grounded guide, this book addresses the anxieties of finding a lifelong partner in an era when over half of marriages end in divorce. Balancing empathy and wit, psychologist Raymond Switzer draws on Bahá’í principles and clinical insights to critique contemporary relationship norms and illuminate a healthier path toward marriage.

Key stages—self‐awareness, attraction, courtship, falling in love, sexual healing amid societal pressures and the decision to wed—are explored with practical tools and reflective prompts. Misconceptions about responsibility-sharing, age or cultural differences and setting realistic expectations are examined, alongside strategies for overcoming the fear of choosing unwisely and for truly understanding one’s own and another’s character.

Equipped with this fresh 21st-century framework, individuals gain clarity on essential partner qualities, confidence to pursue enduring commitment and the ability to navigate cross-cultural or intergenerational relationships.
