Traveler’s Narrative
Traveler’s Narrative
5-7 Working Days to Print
A Traveler’s Narrative, written by ‘Abdu’l-Bahá around 1886, provides a summary of the early history of the Faith. It was first published anonymously in Persian in 1890 and the English translation was prepared by Professor Edward G. Browne for publication in 1891. In order to achieve its overarching objective of establishing the moral, non-political nature of the Faith the narrative documents the period of history associated with Báb and His followers; asserts that Bahá'u'lláh reformed the morals of the early believers and enjoined non-retaliation; describes the trials and exile faced by Bahá'u'lláh; refers to the Súriy-i-Haykal as Bahá'u'lláh's statement about the nature of His mission; cites Tablets of Bahá’u’lláh as well as the Kitáb-i-Aqdas to present the teachings of the Faith; and argues in favor of the extension of rights to all citizens and for their freedom of conscience and belief.
